CII Task Force on Carbon Capture, Utilization & Storage (CCUS)

CII Task Force on Carbon Capture, Utilization & Storage (CCUS): Advancing Circular Economy (2026–27)

The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) has been actively collaborating with government bodies, industry leaders, and technology providers to promote progressive policies, sustainable practices, and innovative technologies for effective waste management across India. Under the CII National Committee on Waste to Worth Technologies, several initiatives are being undertaken to help enterprises reduce, control, and minimize the environmental impact of their operations, with a strong emphasis on circularity and resource efficiency.

As part of these efforts, CII has constituted the CII Task Force on Carbon Capture, Utilization & Storage (CCUS): Advancing Circular Economy (2026–27) under the CII National Committee on Waste to Worth Technologies. The Task Force aims to provide a structured platform for focused engagement, industry collaboration, and coordinated action to support India's transition towards its Net-Zero commitments.

Carbon Capture, Utilization & Storage (CCUS) technologies are increasingly emerging as critical enablers for industrial decarbonization, emissions reduction, and the creation of a climate-resilient economy. Recognizing the transformative potential of CCUS, the Task Force will work closely with government agencies, industries, research institutions, and technology stakeholders to identify sector-specific challenges and opportunities while promoting enabling policies, best practices, and advanced CCUS solutions across the country.

The initiative will focus on accelerating the adoption of scalable carbon management technologies, promoting innovation in carbon utilization pathways, strengthening policy advocacy, and facilitating knowledge exchange to build a sustainable and circular carbon ecosystem in India.
